Gas fireplace error codes

Are you getting error code '1' or '01' on your gas fireplace remote control? This may indicate that there is a problem with the electrical connections.

You can try the following to resolve this yourself:

  • Plug the fireplace into another outlet and try turning the fireplace on again.

If the error message continues to appear, contact your fireplace installer for further assistance.

Are you getting error code '6' or '06' on your gas fireplace remote control? This may indicate that there is a communication error between your remote control and the fireplace.

You can try the following to resolve this yourself:

  • Check that all the batteries of the remote control are tight.
  • Use 2 the same batteries, different batteries may interfere with the remote's operation.
  • Replace the batteries, they will probably be worn out.

If the error message continues to appear, contact your fireplace installer for further assistance.

Are you getting the error code '7' or '07' on the remote control of your gas fireplace? This means that the flame could not be detected in time when lighting the fireplace.

You can try the following to resolve this yourself:

  • Check if there is soot, dirt or decoration against the ignition pin. If this is the case, clear the area again.

If the error message continues to appear, it is best to contact the fireplace installer.

Have you seen error code "8" or "08" on your gas fireplace's remote control? These codes can have several causes, but usually indicate failure to detect gas or the flame, or a failed startup that causes the fireplace to go into safe mode.

You can try the following to solve the problem yourself:

  • Replace the remote control batteries.
  • Make sure the fireplace is well ventilated. Try lighting the fireplace with an OPEN window.
  • Check that there is no decorative material, soot or dust accumulating around the ignition area. Clear this area if necessary.
  • Is your fireplace about 2 years old? If so, a service is necessary. If this has not been done yet, contact your installer as soon as possible.

Does the error message keep coming back? Then contact your installer for further assistance.

Are you getting error code '13' on the remote control of your gas fireplace? This message can occur at two times: immediately upon lighting the fireplace or only after the fire has been burning for a while.

You can try the following to solve this yourself:

Does the code appear immediately upon lighting?

  • Check for soot, dirt or decoration against the ignition pin. Clear the area if necessary and try lighting the fireplace again.

Does this not help? If so, contact your fireplace installer for further assistance.

Does the error code appear after the fireplace has been burning for a while?

  • Turn off the fireplace and contact your installer as soon as possible for further assistance.

Are you getting error code '17' on your gas fireplace's remote control? This is a normal message after three failed attempts to start the fireplace.

This error message can occur in two situations. You can try the following to solve the problem yourself:

When installing the fireplace:

  • When the fireplace is first plugged in and you see error code F17, wait 30 minutes without touching the remote control. Then try to restart the fireplace.

    Please note that if you unplug or use the remote control within those 30 minutes, the timer will automatically reset to 30 minutes before you can try again.

After installing the fireplace:

  • The fireplace may not receive gas, preventing it from starting up. After three failed attempts, the fireplace will automatically lock up for 30 minutes. After half an hour, try lighting the fireplace again, but this time leave the glass open for safety.

Does the problem persist? If so, contact your installer for further assistance.
